Health care could be the law of the land by the State of the Union address

The House Democratic Leaders and House Democratic Chairman are meeting tomorrow in DC (Wed., Jan. 6) to decide how they will handle the recently Senate passed Health Care bill . Once they have set a plan in place, they intend to call a meeting of all House Democrats on Thursday, via phone, web cam and the like to announce the game plan. Many believe they will elect to concur in the Senate amdt with a further House compromise lang. amdt. This takes 1 majority Roll call vote in the House and could occur as early as 6:30PM Tuesday, Jan. 12. This would mean the House message would return to the Senate for 1 cloture vote, requiring another 60 votes and up to 30 hours of post cloture debate before the final vote would occur. The final vote only requires 50 votes.

If the language has been pre-cooked with the Senate Democratic Leadership the Senate could begin the debate necessary as early as Jan. 20th and have the final vote to send the Health Care bill to the President by Monday, Jan. 25. This could be just in time for the State of the Union address if POTUS schedules the speech for Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010. Heck, while he is at the U.S. Capitol, the President could sign the Health Care bill in a historic room of the Capitol, much to the glee of the Democratic Members of Congress, espcially Speaker Pelosi and Senate Leader Reid.

This means that members of GradeGov.com need to make their voices heard in Congress now leading up to these votes in the House and the Senate.

Timing is everything! Stay tuned,
